Wednesday evening the basketball players of AutoCAD Amazone took a 44-66 at BV Lely. That happened in the basketball temple of the Apollo gym. The game wasn’t great, but Amazone needed the win to maintain the battle for the first or second place in the B-poule of the competition. Those places give a ticket for the Final Four competition in December. The most important concurrents are ProBuild Lions and Eurosped Twente, which team will visit De Weide Wereld gym Sunday, 3:30 pm.
,,The most important thing was that Marloes Renskers was back,’’ pointed Jan Poels to the long expected return of the guard. ,,It took a long time.’’ The Amazone entered the court al quarters for five minutes. Without game rhythm Renskers delivered already seven assists. Amazone played as a collective in Amsterdam, and once again Amber ‘AJ’ Jackson lead her team with scores (15) and rebounds (10), a double double. Heather Jackson just missed it with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Charlotte Kromhout showed again her kills in executing, gaining 10 point out of five attempts. Also Sigrid van der Toorn ended up in double figure with also 10 points. ,,Everybody contributed there scores and everybody made her mistake,’’ was the clear summary of Poels.
Amazone took a huge advantage in rebounds, but was too sloppy on the court. The thermometer of turn overs stopped at 26. But after halftime (34-24 lead) a 10-1run was enough to decide the game. ,,We did some testing in the final quarter,’’ Poels explained. ,,Lely wasn’t good enough. They had some nice moves as highlights.’’ Sunday against Eurosped Amazone has to bring more. ,,Then we really can measure our qualities.’’
